Alabama Beach Front
When it comes to beach front property, the Alabama Gulf Coast can be characterized as four distinct areas. There is Orange Beach, which borders Perdido, FL. There is Gulf Shores, which is the centralized portion of Alabama’s beach front. Ono Island, which is an actual island at the beach. It is a private, exclusive gated community made up of multimillion-dollar homes, tennis courts and beautiful views. And then there is Fort Morgan, which cradles the eastern side of Mobile bay. With beach and bay access, this unique area is a must see for people looking to unwind and decompress.
Regardless of the area, one thing is certain; the people are friendly, the food is good, and the beaches are pristine, with sugar white sand and plenty of sunshine.
So, if you are interested in beach property for either a home or an investment, we want to help you make the right decision.
Let’s take a closer look at the areas we mentioned
Orange Beach is full of high rise, modern condominiums, restaurants, and plenty of night life. Home to the World Famous Flora-Bama beach bar and the Annual Mullett Toss. Newer than its neighboring Gulf Shores, Orange Beach offers plenty of opportunity for property purchases on either the beach or the intercoastal waterway. You will be closer to places to eat and entertainment, but the crowds can be a bit larger as well.
Gulf Shores is the original beach front playground for residents of the State of Alabama. As it goes with being the original, its properties are sometimes older, but there has been a great amount of growth and revitalization over the last few years. Home to the international Hangout Music Festival, The great Oyster Cookoff and the National Shrimp Festival, Gulf Shores is the center of Gulf activity. Easy to get to by car, but also by plane, as it has a small airport as well.
Fort Morgan, an actual fort used to defend Mobile Bay stands serenely at the end of its namesake road, Fort Morgan Rd. This area is officially in the city of Gulf Shores, but the properties are different, so that is why I separated it out. Fort Morgan road is over 20 miles long and it offers the best of both worlds, beach and bay. If you are looking for a beach “house”, this is a great place to start. If you are looking for a house on Mobile Bay, with a pier, boat lift and some of the most incredible sunsets you have ever seen, this is where you want to be.
More secluded than Gulf Shores proper, Fort Morgan offers a slower paced, more laid-back lifestyle. If you are looking for a place to call a second home, this may be your spot. Fishing and crabbing from your own pier, playing in the sand on your private bayside beach and access to the Gulf of Mexico are all in your reach with this slice of heaven.
Ono Island, an actual Island that reaches into Perdido, Florida is bordered by Old River to its south and Bayou St. John to its north. This exclusive, private community is where you want to be if you are looking to buy a new home with all the bells and whistles. In fact, rumor has it; as you bike, walk, or ride your golf cart around this little-known oasis, you might see a famous face or two! To be sure, people from all over the country have discovered the Ono mystique and made it their home away from home.
Only a few minutes ride to top notch restaurants, golf courses and entertainment, Ono Island has everything you need for the true beach lifestyle. Sitting at the mouth of Perdido Bay and the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico you can be deep sea fishing, boating, or sunbathing in a matter of minutes. It really is a perfect place to be.
